From one salvage yard in Rochester to 300+ cars a day

Todd Bialaszewski didn't start with a junk car empire. He started in 2014, working with a local salvage yard in Rochester, New York. His job was simple: figure out how to use the internet to get them more cars.

At the time, nobody in the salvage business was thinking about digital marketing. Yards got their cars through word of mouth, a sign on the fence, maybe a tow driver relationship. Todd saw that people were going online to figure out how to sell their junk car โ€” and nobody in the industry was meeting them there.

So he built the marketing. SEO. Google Maps. Ads. Follow-up systems. And it worked. That Rochester yard went from a handful of cars to 35+ cars a day.

In 2015, Todd launched Cash Auto Salvage with two partners to take what he'd learned and scale it. But by 2016, Todd realized he needed to do things his own way. He left that partnership and launched Junk Car Medics โ€” on his own, from scratch.

By the end of 2016 โ€” less than a year after going solo โ€” Junk Car Medics was doing 50 cars a day. Todd had rebuilt everything: the websites, the SEO, the Google Maps presence, the quote engine, the automation. All of it from zero.

Then in 2025, Todd saw the shift. AI, Google's evolving algorithms, and the changing search landscape are all starting to favor local businesses โ€” the actual yards โ€” over the middlemen. Google doesn't want to send people to a broker. AI doesn't want to recommend a middleman. They want the direct buyer. The real business. The yard down the road that actually picks up the car.
